As much as it pains me to type this, the Pleasant Street KOM will not be taking place on Pleasant Ave in St. Paul as previously stated.
There are a few reasons, but mostly the neighborhood has expressed that they wish the event to take place somewhere else. After a nice call from a local SPPD Sergeant who informed me of this displeasure, it’s obvious that it can no longer take place there. The KOM was never intended to make anyone upset at cycling, and if anything can be done to help that, then it must be done!
The event itself, however, is still going to happen. Although where it will take place will be revealed the day of. If you’re still interested in participating/watching, please meet at Omnium Bike Shop at 9 AM, this Sunday, April 15th. We’ll go over the rules, work over the brackets and then head out to do the actual competition. If you’re interested in competing, the start list has opened up slightly so we will have a few spots open that morning. If you’re just coming to watch, you’ll get a little ride in as well!
Here’s the schedule of events:
9 AM: Meet at Omnium Bike Shop
9:30 AM: Head on out for KOM event
9:30 AM – 11:30 AM: THE KOM
12:00 Noon: Head back to Omnium Bike Shop for after party, awards and viewing of the Amstel Gold Race. We’ll have The Bikery’s Waffle Truck, MPLS Minx’s PRO Podium Girl Sabering of the Champagne, and beer!
Thanks for your patience and understanding. I apologize if this is super confusing, but I know this is going to be a great event. In fact, there will be another yet this year, so stay tuned. A big thanks to our sponsors – Omnium Bike Shop, The Bikery, Podiumwear and Banjo Brothers for making this happen and sticking with us even with the venue change.
See ya’ll this Sunday! Any questions/comments just shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
